Troubleshooting

Startup

You see

Do this

"GStreamer is missing"

Install the GStreamer runtime - Install and Run Flowbit Capture. Already installed? Check the PATH entry and restart the PC

"Could not load flowbitserver…"

A file beside the program is missing or blocked. Unpack the original archive again into a fresh folder, then re-run the verification checks for Windows or Ubuntu

"No NVIDIA driver was found" (Ubuntu: "no NVIDIA driver found")

Update the NVIDIA driver - Install and Run Flowbit Capture

"The Bonjour service is not running"

Run net start "Bonjour Service"

Ubuntu: error while loading shared libraries: libgstreamer…

Run the apt-get command in Install and Run Flowbit Capture - Install on Ubuntu 24.04 or 22.04

Ubuntu: version 'GLIBC_2.38' not found

You have the 24.04 archive on a 22.04 machine. Download the -ubuntu22.04 one instead

Ubuntu: cannot open display

Run it on the machine's own screen. Flowbit Capture will not run headless

"Another flowbit-capture is already running"

One copy at a time. Close the other window. On Ubuntu the second copy fails on the network port instead

"Could not bind tcp://127.0.0.1:27015"

Something already holds that port, usually another copy of this program

No system_config.json under …

Config Path is empty in config\flowbit-capture.json

Discovery and connection

You see

Do this

"no cameras discovered - the rig is rescanned automatically"

Wait a few seconds - the rig is re-scanned every three seconds. Still empty: check the cameras are on this network

Cameras that are not yours appear

Set Devices in config\flowbit-capture.json to the device IDs of this rig. An empty list accepts every camera on the network

A camera will not connect

Select Connect again. If it keeps failing, restart Flowbit Capture - a camera that has failed to connect once stays unreachable until you do. Then check the camera is powered and its service is running

The window stops responding after Connect

A Connect to a camera that is discovered but powered off has no timeout and will not finish. Close the window and start again

Connected but no picture

Select Start streaming

Streaming, but the picture never arrives

The nvcodec check prints nothing - see the verification checks for Install and Run Flowbit Capture - Windows or Ubuntu

Configuration

You see

Do this

The console says "bad config…keeping the keys that parsed"

A typo in config\flowbit-capture.json. The program starts anyway, keeping every key it had already read and using the built-in default for the rest - so a wrong Devices can show every camera on the network, and a wrong Recording Root can write to data\recordings. Fix it and restart

A setting seems to be ignored

Check the console at startup. A value outside its range is replaced with the shipped one and a line says so. A misspelled key name produces no message at all

Recording and saving

You see

Do this

Recording will not start

Start streaming first

The recording ended early for every camera

Someone selected Disconnect or Stop streaming on a camera in the session

database.db says stopped_with_errors

Those cameras' .mkv files end early. Re-shoot the take

database.db says unknown

The program stopped unexpectedly while recording

A Save frame was refused

See Features - When a save is refused

Working with Flowbit Calibration

You see

Do this

Flowbit Calibration says not connected

Flowbit Capture is not running. Start it and bring the cameras up: Install and Run Flowbit Capture - Run the power-on test

Flowbit Calibration says N discovered · none connected

Select Connect, then Start streaming here

Every camera draws at the centre

Toggle Extrinsics: ON. Still centred: the rig has no calibration

The room looks doubled

Toggle Extrinsics: OFF. If the clouds then agree, the calibration is wrong

Sync succeeded but the space stays a pile

Calibration File in config\flowbit-capture.json names a different file than Flowbit Calibration wrote, so the result was saved but never applied
